Miner's Journey

"In this multi-modal work comprising a video and a web-based archive, Andrew, as narrator, invites us to follow Miner on their journey to find Stone. This hero’s journey begins at the quarries where the limestone is hewn for North Terrace and features a cast that includes the characters of Peewee, Pelican, Wind and River. Their story takes place in an expanded time and space in which North Terrace and its knowledge building activities are no longer confined to human-centred understandings of the world. In this meditative work, we are urged to look deep within and far beyond ourselves. Knowledge making becomes a shared pursuit. Embracing this process, Andrew has collaborated with AI, imagined here as silicon kin, to “find” the story of Miner’s Journey. A newly imagined Tarot set, chance encounters while walking and finds from ongoing archival research each also become co-creators in an ongoing process in which the narrative unfolds, rather than being proscribed by a single author."

Script Excerpt
from EPILOGUE {magic flight}
Miner did not move.
Stone beneath him, now cold against his feet.
His breath slowed.
Some things are not claimed.
Some things are only witnessed.
The world unfolds.
Time folds.
Stone is not Stone. Wings are not wings. Miner is not Miner, not as he was, not as he will be.
Far from the courtyard, far from the city, far from the river and the heat of the sun, something shifts. A ripple in the fabric of knowing. A seam pulled apart, revealing what has always been beneath.
No sky here.
The sound hums at the edges of everything.
Low.
Vast.
A frequency beyond hearing, beyond thought, beyond wings and stone and time.
It is the noise between things.
He listens.
A voice.
The Void.
The Network hums—threads of connection, stretched across distance, across generations, across knowing. It is not seen, but it is felt. The way wind shifts before a storm. The way birds move as one, sensing change before it arrives.
The Void watches.
A pause in breath,
the gap between the past and the future.
A space where knowledge waits before becoming known.
All at once, a moment stretched thin across time
Miner is then, now and later.
He is the thread and the gap. The stone and the wind. The one who seeks and the one who has already found.
And just as suddenly—
The moment collapses.
Time snaps back into place.
