How might we display (or otherwise represent) complex metadata in virtual realty?
Rachel Hendery, Kate Richards and myself have come together to work on an experimental project with a software output we are calling the Fields of View Object Explorer. We will extend on the above question and explore ways of visualising metadata relationally in the contexts of both space and time.
This will build on experiments we have already undertaken as a proof of concept VR tool, and integrate photogrammetry as a means of bringing museum objects into the virtual environment.
The Fields of View Object Explorer is being developed in the Unity game engine and will feature gesture based controls using the Leap Motion hand tracking controller. The project files as they are developed can be found on Github here. Project on Github
